WELCOME TO COYOTES VOLLEYBALL
COACHING PHILOSOPHY: Our main philosophy is that of training our athletes to be ‘HIP’ in every aspect of their lives. We encourage and try to train them to play with H-onor, live with I-ntegrity, and lead with P-assion. Our main philosophical belief is that we want players to be better people when they walk out of here, in addition to being great volleyball players. High school athletics provide student-athletes with excellent real-life situations and guidance without real-life consequences. We believe this is a fundamental element of participation in the volleyball program. We subscribe to the theory that the competitive athletic experience can enhance social development, contribute to mental and physical health, as well as teach the values of teamwork, goal-setting, responsibility, self-discipline, and self-motivation.
In the Combs Volleyball program, each player must understand and appreciate their role on the team and in the program. In addition, all players are expected to hold themselves at the highest of standards, as well as understand and appreciate the values of discipline, accountability, sacrifice, selflessness, determination, competitive spirit, commitment, teamwork, and pride.
HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL
The transition from middle school volleyball to high school volleyball can be difficult. Playing in middle school is not required to play volleyball for the Combs Coyotes, however prospective student-athletes must understand that at the high school level, the commitment level requires that all practices, meetings, and competitions are mandatory.
HIGH SCHOOL vs. MIDDLE SCHOOL
-
The High School Season is longer (August – November)
-
High School Practices are five days a week for at least two hours a day
-
High School Competitions are practically every week throughout the season; sometimes up to 3-4 times in a week
- High School Participation will also include and require conditioning and weight training
THE COYOTES PROGRAM
At Combs High School, the Indoor Volleyball Program competes during the Fall Season (August-November) and the Beach Team plays in the Spring Season (February-May). All practices, meetings, and competitions are mandatory for both programs. More information on the Beach program will be posted in the coming months.

BEACH VOLLEYBALL PROGRAM:

-
Combs Beach practices four to five times a week

VOLLEYBALL TEAM TRYOUT INFORMATION
Volleyball is a team sport where everyone works hard together. The goal of the coaching staff is to place players in the best situation for the success of the program first, then each team, and finally, the players’ individual development. Competition for a team uniform, playing time, and/or a starting position at Combs will be intense. We believe that selection to a high school team is an honor and privilege, not a right. EARNING a spot on a team needs to be the focus of all players planning to try out.
Volleyball Tryouts begin August 12th for the 2024 season. There will also be Open Gyms, skill camps, and potential summer tournaments to participate in as well.
PRE-PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS: ATHLETIC CLEARANCE
All prospective student-athletes must have a current clearance including physicals for the new season must be current and dated on or after March 1 of the same year.
Please contact the Athletic Department with any questions or concerns.
